By the way, did you know that the Showtime story of Henry VIII’s sister Margaret Tudor and the aging King of Portugal is based on the real story of Henry VIII’s sister Mary Tudor and the aging King of France? The real Margaret Tudor married the King of Scotland, and spawned a line of Scottish monarchs that would ultimately inhabit the English throne as well. That’s hot.

So it seems there actually was a Henry Fitzroy, bastard son to Henry VIII and Elizabeth Blount. I didn’t know that. He did die before the King, but he lived much longer than was portrayed on the show.

I’m careful not to accept what happens on the show as historically accurate, but every now and then a question is raised that I have to look up, and then I learn something anyway.
