The reason I chose Washington Irving instead of Ichabod Crane is that the latter would lead to: Ichabod Crane > Christopher Walken > William Shakespeare > Sir Francis Bacon Which would only tie: Ichabod Crane > Washington Irving > Edgar Allan Poe > Sir Francis Bacon And I wanted the Poe connection to be the fastest.
