Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
\nOf princes, shall outlive this powerful rime;
\nBut you shall shine more bright in these contents
\nThan unswept stone, besmear’d with sluttish time.
\nWhen wasteful war shall statues overturn,
\nAnd broils root out the work of masonry,
\nNor Mars his sword nor war’s quick fire shall burn
\nThe living record of your memory.
\n‘Gainst death and all-oblivious enmity
\nShall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room
\nEven in the eyes of all posterity
\nThat wear this world out to the ending doom.
\nSo, till the judgment that yourself arise,
\nYou live in this, and dwell in lovers’ eyes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Shift around the letters, and it becomes:<\/p>\n

Through brilliant sonnet rendered fifty-five,
\nOur poet really gives his honored trust,
\nIn vows to quill his subject still alive,
\nWhile royals’ crypts in stone shall fall to dust;
\nBut in short times who really truly knew,
\nSome simpler verse should many moons endure?
\nImagine what this tribute should construe,
\nIf real immortal fame were promised sure.
\nFans read with universal lilting rote,
\nTo wonder who that dreamboat could have been
\nWho should inspire this sonorous rhymed note,
\nAs boy Fate slyly’s rolling such a grin:
\nAll fame went to the author of that rhyme,
