{"id":3980,"date":"2013-01-25T11:46:52","date_gmt":"2013-01-25T16:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shakespeareteacher.com\/blog\/?p=3980"},"modified":"2013-01-27T11:04:35","modified_gmt":"2013-01-27T16:04:35","slug":"shakespeare-song-parody-the-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shakespeareteacher.com\/blog\/archives\/3980","title":{"rendered":"Shakespeare Song Parody: The Title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A friend asked me if I was going to do <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shakespeareteacher.com\/blog\/archives\/category\/parody\">song parodies<\/a> for all of Shakespeare&#8217;s plays.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if I can commit to that right now, but if I were going to do it, at some point I&#8217;d probably have to resort to something like this.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<strong>The Title<\/strong><br \/>\nsung to the tune of &#8220;The Fighter&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>(With apologies to Gym Class Heroes, Ryan Tedder, and every teacher who ever had to put up with me&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Yo!<\/p>\n<p>I want to tell you about these two key men.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s not a tale of one or three men.<br \/>\nI don\u2019t think these are identical twin men,<br \/>\nBut I do know at the least that they are kinsmen.<br \/>\nA kinsman\u2019s a relation, you know, like a cousin.<br \/>\nYou could have a few or you could have several dozen.<br \/>\nThese men are related to more than a few men,<br \/>\nBut please remember there are only two men.<\/p>\n<p>And not just two kinsmen, but these two are noble,<br \/>\nA big deal for a culture not socially mobile.<br \/>\nAnd these two noble kinsmen can get into adventures,<br \/>\nAnd that\u2019s why Shakespeare and Fletcher wrote this play.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ve a parody up ahead,<br \/>\nAbout a play you haven\u2019t read.<br \/>\nYou have lyrics to fill;<br \/>\nHow you gonna do it?<\/p>\n<p>Shakespeare fan, Bard lover,<br \/>\nJudge that book by its cover.<br \/>\nA few words, takes no time,<br \/>\nIt is clear to me, clear to me, clear to me:<br \/>\nIt\u2019s in the title; it&#8217;s in the title,<br \/>\nRight in the title.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s become clear to me, clear to me, clear to me:<br \/>\nJust read the title.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\nNoble\u2019s like a duke or prince,<br \/>\nAnd if they\u2019re both noble it kind of makes sense,<br \/>\nBecause noble was something that came from birth,<br \/>\nNot like today when we talk about inner worth.<\/p>\n<p>So if one kinsman\u2019s noble, the other is, too.<br \/>\nIf your kinsman\u2019s noble, then so are you.<br \/>\nAnd there are exactly two: don\u2019t add a third,<br \/>\nAnd a single kinsman is absurd.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ve a parody up ahead,<br \/>\nAbout a play you haven\u2019t read.<br \/>\nYou have lyrics to fill;<br \/>\nHow you gonna do it?<\/p>\n<p>Shakespeare fan, Bard lover,<br \/>\nJudge that book by its cover.<br \/>\nA few words, takes no time,<br \/>\nIt is clear to me, clear to me, clear to me:<br \/>\nIt\u2019s in the title; it&#8217;s in the title,<br \/>\nRight in the title.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s become clear to me, clear to me, clear to me:<br \/>\nJust read the title.<\/p>\n<p>Everybody hold your books up!<br \/>\nWhat&#8217;s that cover say?
