Thursday Morning Riddle: Special Edition

Today, I offer two riddles. They have different answers, but you only need to respond once.

Enjoy!

I’m to put down the lid: I’m to shut the front door;
I’m a salesman’s intent; end the day for a store;
I’m to sign for a home; hold discussion no more;
And quotation marks after what’s quoted before.

Who am I?

* * *

I’m a shave that is clean; I am not very far;
When you just barely win; quarters tight where you are;
Strong relationships; Fatal Attraction’s big star;
And I’m almost correct, but you win no cigar.

Who am I?

UPDATE: Riddles solved by Asher. See comments for answers.

    Nice double riddle.

    It’s funny that you thought of this, because I was working on a subset of the “Their Last Names Are Verbs” puzzle where the people’s last names looked like verbs, but needed to be pronounced differently to sound like verbs.

    I found three such people so far, and Glenn Close is one of them. (The others are a world leader and a poet.)

  4. Bill Says:

    Cool! I look forward to checking it out.
